Tappan Marina Construction Update
On Friday, May 22, the Board of Directors of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, authorized the advertisement for bids for the renovation of the Tappan Marina Building and related site work. Two past bids, one last summer, and one this past April, did not produced an awardable bid. We have worked with our architects and solicited input from contractors to perform several value engineering exercises, (with the design of the building remaining largely intact), and MWCD staff feels ready to advertise for bids once again. Bids for the project will be opened June 24th.
Because of a very shortened season due to COVID – 19, and the possibility of construction beginning in early August, Kent and Cindy Murray, operators of the Latitude 40 Restaurant at Tappan Marina, decided not to reopen for such a short period this year. They remain excited about coming back to a renovated building in 2021.
Though work on the building has not yet begun, there has indeed been work going on at the marina. Boat storage area improvements were made last fall, a seawall project was finished this past winter, a new and greatly expanded fuel dock was installed earlier this spring, and substantial upgrades to the boat fueling and boat sanitary pump out systems were recently completed. Work is beginning on a new wastewater treatment system, as well.
We will provide updates on the marina project as they are available, and thank you for your continued patience.
